Day 72: The Island Song by Ashley Eriksson (and a picture of Mel)

31 Jul

Hello there! If this is your first time on the site, be sure to check out the about page at the top for more info on my project! Also, sign the guestbook (also located in the top)!

For the past few days, I’ve been near passing out when I write my posts, so I apologize for the lack of posting!

A few notes before we get to the post: This blog is STILL the featured blog under the optimism tag! So hooray!! That’s always good!

Also, if you haven’t managed to get out and see Inception, make sure you go. Yes, it’s a bit confusing, but it is worth the money!!! I absolutely love it, and it is incredibly smart. Go see it!!!

First of all, I’ve been losing sleep the last few nights due to my CUTE LITTLE KITTY!!!

MEL!!! SO CUTE

We got Mel on Friday, and she’s been a ball of energy for days. Although she is freaking adorable…

SO CUTE!!!

especially when she sleeps!!

But anyways! I have a cute song for you today (not surprisingly featured during the ending credits of Adventure Time… don’t judge me! I love the show!) and it just warms your heart when listening to it!

Enjoy Ashley Eriksson’s “The Island Song”

Day 69: A Town Called Panic in “Cake”!

28 Jul

Hello there! If this is your first time on the site, be sure to check out the about page at the top for more info on my project! Also, sign the guestbook (also located in the top)!

After staying up late for the past few days, I’ve reached my tired level. So unfortunately, I must cut my blogpost short for tonight…

So tonight I want to show you a really silly little video called “Cake” from a TV show called “A Town Called Panic”. The show is from Belgium and it is a stop motion animated series about Cowboy, Indian, and Horse (who all live in a town called Panic). While the original series is in French, the English dubbed version is just as funny.

This past year, they released a feature film in theaters with the same name, and it is an hour and fifteen minutes of nutty fun. For those of you who have instant watch netflix, you can watch it instantly on your computer! (just look up A Town Called Panic).

Without further ado, I bring you “Cake” from “A Town Called Panic”

If you like this video, check out the article I wrote over at the Oregon Voice here! (it’s all about stop motion animation!)

Day 68: They’ll Soon Discover by The Shins

27 Jul

Hello there! If this is your first time on the site, be sure to check out the about page at the top for more info on my project! Also, sign the guestbook (also located in the top)!

So today’s blogpost is gonna be short and sweet and Shins filled. Because that’s the way I work.

I wanna feature a song that always makes me smile whenever I hear it! Yes, it’s from the Spongebob movie. Yes, it’s about Spongebob. But it never fails to make me happy.

The song is called “They’ll Soon Discover” by the Shins, and if you’re like me, you’ll want to sing along!

Enjoy! (also, sorry for the poor quality video… it’s mainly just for the song)

Day 67: (BELATED) The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson

27 Jul

Hello there! If this is your first time on the site, be sure to check out the about page at the top for more info on my project! Also, sign the guestbook (also located in the top)!

Sorry this is late guys, but I sat at starbucks all day yesterday and stayed up all night to read the New York Times bestseller “The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo”.

While the book is pretty simply written, it is an amazingly cool thriller that will have you on the edge of your seat the whole way through. I got through 644 pages last night, trying to solve the mystery alongside the characters, but it kept me captivated, even when I felt the pieces were coming together.

I was so stoked to finish it this morning at 5:30am that I totally forgot to update my blog.

So I blame this book. If you haven’t read it and you’re not doing anything today or tomorrow, go buy the book (I bought my copy for $7.99 at Borders)

Day 66: Scott Pilgrim Avatar Creator!!

25 Jul

Hello there! If this is your first time on the site, be sure to check out the about page at the top for more info on my project! Also, sign the guestbook (also located in the top)!

Today I’m going nerdy as I discuss my newest anticipation: Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World (2010).

Starring Michael Cera as Scott Pilgrim, and Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Ramona Flowers, Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World is an epic tale of love, music, and FIGHTING. Now, I haven’t read the comic book it’s based off of, but this is what I know: Scott is in a band, and he is pretty much a slacker. He’s sort of dating this girl, but nothing serious. Then, one night at a party, he meets the girl of his dreams: Ramona Flowers (a girl with crazy-ass colored wigs). The two begin to date, but it is soon clear that Ramona has baggage: 7 evil pieces. Now Scott has to fight his way through 6 rough and tough guys (and one girl), to be with the girl he loves.

Oh, and did I mention that it is directed by Edgar Wright, who is famous for directing Shaun Of The Dead (2004) and Hot Fuzz (2007). Sooooo yeah this movie is already amazing.

Check out the preview right here.

To help promote the movie, they launched a really fun little game on the website called the “Scott Pilgrim Avatar Creator”… you can make a mini you, in the fashion of the little comic book characters!

I made a version of myself, and I urge you to make one too!

So if you make one, post the link to your creation in the comment section so I can see what you got!
