Day 282: Feel It All Around by Washed Out

23 Mar

If you’ve ever watched the show Portlandia and chilled out to the theme song without know what it was, you’re in luck!

“Feel It All Around” by Washed Out is my hipster-chillwave song of the week. Whenever I need to take a break from being AWESOME, I bust out this song and just relax (while still keeping AWESOME. yeah. that’s right.)

So enjoy this chill song, “Feel It All Around” by Washed Out!

Day 281: We Are Hunted

23 Mar

Hey everyone!

So I am completely addicted to We Are Hunted. It’s a music website that allows you to build your own playlist based on the newest bands (and some of your favorites), that you can share with others… or just listen to!

I stumbled upon this website the other night, and despite a few hiccups and inconsistencies (many of the songs are not actually playable, despite being listed as so… also some of the songs are definitely NOT by the artists they are labeled under) it’s such an awesome sight to browse!

My favorite secition is the Emerging Charts, which focus on all types of music but brings out the best music from some of the coolest indie bands out there right now! With 100 songs right off the bat to pick, and hundreds more that are searchable, it’s easy to get lost in your own playlist!

Check out the site now! And favorite my playlist!

Here’s a song that I heard on the site that I love (AND is off the new Strokes album that came out yesterday!):

Day 280: Anna Sun by Walk The Moon

21 Mar

Hey everyone!

I found the most awesome website ever yesterday (We Are Hunted, a music website), but due to lack of time I can’t feature it until tomorrow.

However, a song on the website made me fall in love with indie music once more… The song is called “Anna Sun” by the band Walk The Moon, and it’s playful and sweet. Plus, it’s INSANELY catchy!

I highly recommend it to people who like bands like The Little Ones, Kings Of Leon, We Are Scientists, or even the Killers!

But enjoy “Anna Sun” by Walk The Moon!

Day 279: The Bucket

20 Mar

This game is just too cute to pass up. Made by the wonderful Nitrome, “The Bucket” is a really cute little 8-bit game where you (as a fish/bonsai tree) carry a raccoon in a basket through a complicated maze.

It sounds easy, but it’s a bit challenging. However, my favorite part is just how random it is… the plot doesn’t make sense, and yet it’s so adorable – especially the fish/bonsai when it completes a level!

So enjoy “The Bucket”, and check out more games at nitrome.com! (Click the picture to play the game)

Day 278: [BELATED] Let’s Duet by Dewey Cox

20 Mar

Sorry for the late post! I’ve been quite busy for these past few days, but I’m definitely going to find time to update more tomorrow!

Tonight, I watched Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story (2007), which is one of those cheesy spoofs of Johnny Cash’s life… but this time with hilarious comedians (including John C. Riley, Jenna Fischer, Paul Rudd, Tim Meadows, and many others)!

Anyways, this song always cracks me up… but be forewarned: it’s quite dirty if you read between the lines!!!

Enjoy “Let’s Duet” by Dewey Cox.

Day 277: Burning Mirrors by Lumerians

18 Mar

I got to chill with my bud today, and he went to buy this CD by an indie band called Lumerians. As we sat in the car (with the rain pelting the windows), we chilled out to the psychadelic astro-rock that stole my heart away.

For today’s post, I want to feature the first song on their CD Transmalinnia “Burning Mirrors.” It’s cosmic, rocking, and just plain awesome!! I hope you enjoy:

By the way, this is the best album to work out to. Not even joking.

Day 276: Lille by Lisa Hannigan

17 Mar

For the third post, I want to feature one of my all time favorite songs.

“Lille” by Lisa Hannigan is a different kind of song to come out of the decade, but it’s so wonderful and I love the video. I feel like I’m dreaming when I listen to it, and it inspires me to write.

I hope you enjoy Lille by Lisa Hannigan, and have a wonderful, dream-filled night!
