Day 293: SEALAB 2021

29 Apr

I’m gonna post a short one tonight, mainly because I’m running on about 3 hours of sleep.

Sealab 2021 was one of those awesome shows on [adult swim] that made fun of those old-school 70s cartoons I used to love. With the archaic animation of the olden days of the mid-2000s, the voices of awesome people (specifically Erik Estrada!), and the completely random episodes that just don’t make sense half the time, Sealab is just a win upon wins.

Warning, this show is sort of dumb, but I can’t help but laugh every time I watch it.

Enjoy “I, Robot” on Sealab 2021!

Day 254: Don’t Let The Devil by Jackie Greene

24 Feb

Hey everyone!

For today’s post, I wanted to get some blues out there (to essentially contribute to the stormy weather).

A few weeks back, me and Michael, a friend of mine, went to see Jackie Greene at WOW Hall. I had zero expectations, so I was thoroughly surprised at how great the concert was! With the bluesy-rock feel and the Hendrix-style guitar solos, I became an instant fan.

I loved how Jackie Greene used all different guitars and instruments to explore the genre he was rocking, actively getting the audience to feel the music like he does. With two acts, a fantastic arrangement of guitars, a 70s electric organ (can you say LOVE?!), and a great voice, he embodied the soul of the 70s. Impressive for such a young artist!

Anyway I had a great time at the concert (thanks Mike!) and I’m proud to say that I’m a Jackie Greene fan from now on!

Here’s an acoustic version of “Don’t Let The Devil” (which was one of my favorite songs he played). It’s really awesome and I’m glad to see this guy still rocks hard acousticly as well as full-band-ly.

Enjoy “Don’t Let The Devil” by Jackie Greene!

Day 248: Sensual Seduction by Snoop Dogg

17 Feb

I freaking love this song. Snoop Dogg is notorious for being one of those sort-of silly rappers, but this video tops it for me.

Don’t get me wrong, he’s super legit. I love almost everything he’s done especially this song. But only a silly person would make a music video for an already silly song look like it walked out of the early 80s.

I love it though, with all of its cheesyness.

So enjoy “Sensual Seduction” by Snoop Dogg

Day 76: The Suburbs by Arcade Fire

4 Aug

Hello there! If this is your first time on the site, be sure to check out the about page at the top for more info on my project! Also, sign the guestbook (also located in the top)!

Yesterday, I bought the new Arcade Fire CD. While it is more playful and less amazing than Neon Bible, The Suburbs is a fun addition to my CD collection.

The title track is definitely my favorite on the CD, but there are many others that shine as bright! (Specifically “Deep Blue”, “Suburban War”, and “We Used To Wait”)

However “The Suburbs” has my favorite lyric: “So can you understand/Why I want a daughter while I’m still young?/I want to hold her hand/And show her some beauty/Before all the damage is done/But if it’s too much to ask/If it’s too much to ask/Then send me a son”

I love this song, and I hope you do too. Enjoy “The Suburbs” by Arcade Fire. By the way, this video was fan-made, and I think it is amazingly fantastic!!! Great job, SocktoSong!
