Day 167: Seattle during the Thanksgiving Weekend

28 Nov

Hello everyone!

So my roommate Jamie and I went to the Seattle area for Thanksgiving, and boy did we have a lot of fun! We spent Black Friday in Downtown Seattle, taking in the sites and smells of the big city. On Saturday, we went to Pike Place Market and Archie Mcphees in Ballard, afterwards taking a trip to Bellevue Square to see a spontaneous parade! Throughout the week, we wandered around Redmond, taking in the beautiful site of the snow covered land. It was a great trip!

For today’s post, I have decided to feature some of the best pictures we took, from both Jamie and me.

Enjoy!

Day 141: Cookin’ Kitty Moment

9 Oct

Hello there! If this is your first time on the site, be sure to check out the about page at the top for more info on my project! Also, sign the guestbook (also located in the top)!

The strangest stuff pops up on public access.

When I was bored one night this summer, I turned on public access and witnessed “Cookin’ Kitty” for the first time.

Cookin’ Kitty is a guy who, dressed as a cat, does aerobics and talks about issues. The one I was watching involved him crawling through some grass at a park in the Seattle area. He was discussing his love for alcohol and his issues with the political systems. It was a strange experience watching it, but I was drawn in!

Unfortunately, I couldn’t find the episode I watched that night, I did find him talking about a very important issue: why he drinks tea instead of coffee in Seattle.

So, enjoy Cookin’ Kitty!

Day 12: Ode To The Buzz

1 Jun

Hello there! If this is your first time on the website, be sure to check out the about page in the top righthand corner!

Today, I took a specific look at a particular coffee shop that I love: the Buzz. The Buzz is located on the University of Oregon campus, right in the bottom level of the EMU center. Because I live in the dorm area (and crave coffee that I DON’T pay for with cheap points), I tend to gravitate towards the Buzz and chill there.

The next couple of days for me are going to be a living hell: I have three papers due tomorrow, two finals tomorrow, a final on thursday, and an 8 am final on Monday morning. For my hardest class.

In times like these, there is little that can help me feel better about my situation. So, today, I’ve decided to park myself in the Buzz and write my papers, at least getting them right out of the way so I can study for my finals tomorrow.

Sitting here, now, I realize why I love them so much. So, I present you with an ode to the Buzz.

Ode To The Buzz

Someone must’ve stolen my iPod
And hooked it up to the speakers
Here at this sweet coffee shop.
Beck, Radiohead, Kanye, Gorillaz, Peter Bjorn And John.
The smell of the coffee doesn’t distract me for a second
But the music does.
Do I mind?
Not at all.
I feel the cool breeze from the window wall
I smell the fumes of happy treats, on display under glass like a museum
My tastebuds feel warm, or cold, depending on the day.
Even though the weather is dreary outside, the Buzz stays happy.
A cool place to do homework
Write a paper
Or just hang out.
Just remember to be nice to the employees.
And make sure to buy a drink
Or else, you’ll look weird.
Cellphone is dead
Lost in the desert.
One by one I’ll knock you out.
