Day 254: Don’t Let The Devil by Jackie Greene

24 Feb

Hey everyone!

For today’s post, I wanted to get some blues out there (to essentially contribute to the stormy weather).

A few weeks back, me and Michael, a friend of mine, went to see Jackie Greene at WOW Hall. I had zero expectations, so I was thoroughly surprised at how great the concert was! With the bluesy-rock feel and the Hendrix-style guitar solos, I became an instant fan.

I loved how Jackie Greene used all different guitars and instruments to explore the genre he was rocking, actively getting the audience to feel the music like he does. With two acts, a fantastic arrangement of guitars, a 70s electric organ (can you say LOVE?!), and a great voice, he embodied the soul of the 70s. Impressive for such a young artist!

Anyway I had a great time at the concert (thanks Mike!) and I’m proud to say that I’m a Jackie Greene fan from now on!

Here’s an acoustic version of “Don’t Let The Devil” (which was one of my favorite songs he played). It’s really awesome and I’m glad to see this guy still rocks hard acousticly as well as full-band-ly.

Enjoy “Don’t Let The Devil” by Jackie Greene!

Day 253: Giving Up The Ghost by Radiohead

22 Feb

Yes, I know I’ve been featuring Radiohead a lot lately, but OH MY GOODNESS IS THIS CD GOOD!!!!

I’ve always been a huge Radiohead fan… ever since I was a little kid even! I grew up listening to OK Computer, The Bends, Hail To The Thief, and (of course) my favorite Kid A. Their last CD In Rainbows is in my top 10 favorite albums list, and it is still one of the best CDs I’ve ever heard!

I actually got to see Radiohead on their last tour, and while I checked that off my bucket list I will never forget how incredible it was. Just summing up my whole existence in one concert… it’s breathtaking.

So as I listen to The King Of Limbs, I feel all these emotions, just diluted down. The new-ness of this CD is still a little difficult for me to get used to, but I’m managing. And just when I thought that I’d lose hope for loving this CD as much as Kid A or In Rainbows, I heard “Giving Up The Ghost.”

I can’t even say anything about it, except that if this song was a person I’d already be in love.

Day 229: [BELATED PT 1] Blame The World by Daley

31 Jan

Hey guys!

I’m so sorry for not updating my blog in a couple days. I made a weekend trip to Portland, OR with my mother for a concert.

So, to make up for it, I’ve got three posts tonight (they’re gonna be real short, so I apologize)

First post is for British singer Daley (who was featured on the Gorillaz single “Doncamatic”). He’s really sketch looking, but his music is incredible!

This song is an acoustic version of a song that’s gonna be on his EP. The song’s called “Blame The World,” and it is fantastic.

Enjoy!

Day 145: [BELATED… OF COURSE!] Kong by Bonobo

14 Oct

Hello there! If this is your first time on the site, be sure to check out the about page at the top for more info on my project! Also, sign the guestbook (also located in the top)!

Of course I forget. Of course. Guys and gals who read my blog, I apologize for my lack of word of keeping up my blog. I am super failing. But I guess I do have time to make up for it!

This post is dedicated to a band Tyler introduced me to right before I left for college. Bonobo is probably not everyone’s choice listening, mainly because it’s so chill and electronic, and not more word-clad. But it is really good and nice to listen to when you need something to relax to.

If I was still in Washington on the 20th of November, I would definitely be accompanying my best friend to the concert! But alas, I am not.

Anyway, I present you with Bonobo’s “Kong”. Enjoy!
