Day 84: Wraith Pinned To The Mist And Other Games by Of Montreal

12 Aug

Hello there! If this is your first time on the site, be sure to check out the about page at the top for more info on my project! Also, sign the guestbook (also located in the top)!

Once again continuing Paste Mag video week, I bring you “Wraith Pinned To The Mist And Other Games” by Of Montreal

NOT hailing from Montreal, Of Montreal is probably the craziest band you’ll hear. While they are considered indie-rock, their music is a combination of experimental techno/glam rock/power pop/ and indie cuteness. And weirdly enough, that’s exactly what the band looks like: a mish-mash of crazy awesomeness (I’ve heard stories of them playing shows naked before. INTENSE). The coolest part of this band is that you can tell when the band is playing because of their unique sound.

This song with the long title is also known by many as the “outback” song (mainly because it’s words were changed for commercials to the Outback). However, the original song is much sweeter and kid-like (even though the video features many scenes of death!) It’s adorkable, and it makes me smile.

So enjoy “Wraith Pinned To The Mist And Other Games” by Of Montreal!

I want to party with those animals!!

Hello there! If this is your first time on the site, be sure to check out the about page at the top for more info on my project! Also, sign the guestbook (also located in the top)!

Today, in honor of the Paste Mag Video Week, I bring you “Quiet As A Mouse” by  Margot & The Nuclear So And So’s.

The band, hailing from Indianapolis, contributes to the indie-rock genre in a fantastic way. While the vocals are not extremely hardcore, the lead guitar helps amp up the sound to a gem of a sound!

Check out their creative video “Quiet As A Mouse” below!

P.S., I apologize for the short blogpost! Tomorrow I’ll make it up to ya!

Day 81: Young Bride by Midlake

9 Aug

Hello there! If this is your first time on the site, be sure to check out the about page at the top for more info on my project! Also, sign the guestbook (also located in the top)!

To continue Paste Mag Video Week, I bring you another great band from the DVD sampler!

Hailing from Denton, Texas, Midlake is an indie-rock/folk band just waiting to be listened to. The band initially started out playing jazz music (inspired by the likes of Herbie Hancock), but soon transitioned into their current genre over a few years. While they may not be extremely famous here in the US, they make quite an impact in Europe (especially with their label “Bella Union Records” in London, England).

The year the sampler came out, they had a very sweet song called “Young Bride”, accompanied with a video, which made it onto the DVD. While the vid is a bit sad, it is sweet and gentle and something easy to listen to. On a side note, I particularly love the violin part. So gorgeous!!

If you’re a fan of the likes of Fleet Foxes and Blind Pilot, be sure to check out Midlake!

So here you go! Enjoy “Young Bride” by Midlake!
