Day 122: Go To Sleep (Little Man Being Erased) by Radiohead

20 Sep

Hey guys, if this is your first time on the site, be sure to check out the about page at the top for more info on my project! Also, sign the guestbook (also located in the top)!

I’m back! I’m so sorry I haven’t posted in a few days.

First, I’d like to thank Ridemus for posting yesterday! The last few days have been incredibly busy and hectic and by the end of the day I was pooped! So huge snaps, whistles, and claps for Ridemus!

Also, I’m sorry for missing a day! In response to that, I am adding an extra day to the blog at the end of the project! That way, I can make up for this last few days.

Okay! On with the blog!

I’m back in Eugene! And I’m living in an apartment with two of my best friends, so I couldn’t be happier! Now it’s time to get everything put together and looking like a real living space!

For tonight’s topic, I wanted to feature one of my favorite songs ever: Radiohead’s “Go To Sleep (Little Man Being Erased)”.

I’m a huge fan of the show “Firefly” (for those of you not familiar with this gem, it is a sci-fi fantasy show about a bunch of space cowboy bounty hunters. It’s humorous, intense, and really fantastic). The show is awesome, but what’s so cool is the music. Because it’s a western-like show, they use a bluegrassy score to set the mood.

Now, this show doesn’t have anything to do with the Radiohead song, but whenever I hear this song, I always think of “Firefly.” It’s that bluegrass feel and lyrics that just get me every time…  This song is fantastic!

So enjoy “Go To Sleep (Little Man Being Erased)” by Radiohead!

Day 103: HOT TAMALES!!

31 Aug

Hello there! If this is your first time on the site, be sure to check out the about page at the top for more info on my project! Also, sign the guestbook (also located in the top)!

First off, I’m back from California! And I shall have some pictures for ya tomorrow (as my blog post). Sorry I didn’t update so well, I was lacking internet (except for my phone) and it is INCREDIBLY DIFFICULT to update this blog from my iPhone. Seriously!

Anyway, I have a couple of notes for you:

1.) PUMPKIN SPICE LATTES ARE BACK AT STARBUCKS!! If you want the most amazing coffee yummy treat from Starbucks, GET IT.

2.) I discovered a new love for Green Tea with Splenda! So so so good!

3.) I think the weather loves me and my mom. When we arrived in California, we had checked the weather reports and they boasted 110 degrees for the whole week. The first day was hot… the next 5 days were between the 60s and 80s! Plus there was rain! (nothing like the rain that greeted me when I stepped off the plane at Sea-Tac)

4.) Sea-Tac is the NICEST AIRPORT EVER. So easy to navigate, super nice staff, clean rooms everywhere, and just overall a breeze. I adore this airport!

5.) My actual blog post for this evening is dedicated to my two future roomies. We discovered this video last year when we were procrastinating on our homework. Ever since then it’s become a huge inside joke (resulting in a HILARIOUSLY AWESOME set of salt and pepper shakers for our apartment) and an automatic cheerer-upper.

So, in honor of the lovely Jamie and Becca, I bring you HOT TAMALES!!!

Day 21: There’s Always Someone Cooler Than You by Ben Folds

10 Jun

Hello there! If this is your first time on the website, be sure to check out the about page in the top right hand corner for more information on my project.

So, my summer vacation has officially started, but it just doesn’t feel right. Even though I’ve been back for about 3 days, my mind is still in Oregon, still attending classes, and still frantically checking Blackboard to see what my grades are.

I need a break!

Then, after I was about to give in and laze out on the couch (in the midst of sadness and bored-ness), I remembered that the best way to get me in the summer spirit is by pulling out some Ben Folds (Five).

Thank goodness for that!

So today I bring you a cute little video, made as a fun side project for a random youtuber, for one of my favorite songs “There’s Always Someone Cooler Than You” by Ben Folds. The song has a great message, and the video makes me smile. So enjoy!

Day 19: Hi by PSAPP

8 Jun

Hello there! If this is your first time on the website, be sure to check out the about page in the top righthand corner to learn more about my project!

So I’m going back to Washington today! I’m both happy and sad, but I keep telling myself that in a few months I’ll be back and better than ever.

Today I’m taking you back to my junior year in high school, when I really started developing the love for some pretty bizarre music. That was the year I listened to The Presets and Mates Of State… it was the year JCI introduced me to the Radio Department, and the year my favorite teacher introduced me to Wilco. Great year of my life.

But this song is very symbolic for today, and it is one of my favorite songs.

Because I hate saying goodbye, I’ll say the opposite. So enjoy “Hi” by PSAPP

leave me some roadtrip-love in the comments below!

Day 18: Slip Away by Kathryn Calder

7 Jun

Hello there! If this is your first time on the website, be sure to check out the about page in the top right hand corner.

So today is my last day in Eugene for three months. As I pack my stuff and say goodbye to friends new and old, I have been trying to keep an uplifting spirit. But it has been hard.

On the bright side, I did find out that I got a promising job on campus next term, so that shall be both a challenge and an advantage for the year to come.

Anyways, today I bring you a new song!! It’s called “Slip Away” by Kathryn Calder (who is the keyboardist in one of my favorite bands, the New Pornographers). This is the first song from her solo project, and as far as I know it was released today!!

So enjoy!!

Goodbye, Eugene! And everyone living here! I’ll be back in three months!

Day 13: Vaporize by The Broken Bells

2 Jun

Hello there! If this is your first time on the website, be sure to check out the top right hand corner (the about page) to see exactly what my project is all about.

Hello all. Today is once again a dreary day, however I did find my daily does of awesome, in the form of a collaboration between two of my all time favorite musicians!

Broken Bells is a side project of The Shins’ frontman James Mercer and notoriously awesome producer Danger Mouse. The music is chill, very psychadelic in some senses, and totally boss!

Because today has not been the best, I’ve been listening to their debut, self-titled album pretty consistently. So today I bring you “Vaporize” by Broken Bells!
