Early post for you today!!

If you didn’t watch the video I posted yesterday, I highly encourage it (check it out here) It’s cute and sweet and about superheros!

Today I have another really sweet song for you called “Elevenses” by Neil Halstead. Some of you may have heard it before, which is not unusual: the song is prominently featured in the most recent “Above The Influence” commercial (with the two teenagers who hang out together).

I see this commercial at my work all the time, and the song is so cute that I just had to find out what it was!

So I hope you enjoy “Elevenses” by Neil Halstead!

P.S. this video was made under 99 dollars! hooray for using resources!

Day 69: A Town Called Panic in “Cake”!

28 Jul

Hello there! If this is your first time on the site, be sure to check out the about page at the top for more info on my project! Also, sign the guestbook (also located in the top)!

After staying up late for the past few days, I’ve reached my tired level. So unfortunately, I must cut my blogpost short for tonight…

So tonight I want to show you a really silly little video called “Cake” from a TV show called “A Town Called Panic”. The show is from Belgium and it is a stop motion animated series about Cowboy, Indian, and Horse (who all live in a town called Panic). While the original series is in French, the English dubbed version is just as funny.

This past year, they released a feature film in theaters with the same name, and it is an hour and fifteen minutes of nutty fun. For those of you who have instant watch netflix, you can watch it instantly on your computer! (just look up A Town Called Panic).

Without further ado, I bring you “Cake” from “A Town Called Panic”

If you like this video, check out the article I wrote over at the Oregon Voice here! (it’s all about stop motion animation!)

Today I have a short blog post, but I will update a lot longer and more in depth tomorrow about a great day (chronicled in photos).

I bring you a great song, and a cute video made as a project for it. I didn’t make the video, but I stumbled upon it a few years back when the song was in it’s prime.

Enjoy “Young Folks” by Peter Bjorn And John

Day 51: These Days by Nico

10 Jul

Hello there! If this is your first time on the site, be sure to check out the about page at the top for more info on my project! Also, sign the guestbook (also located in the top)!

So after a lengthy (and extremely stressful) day, I am glad to be home and working on my own laptop.

Just a reminder: look out for a special blog post coming out in the next couple of days!!

Today I volunteered at Urban Craft Uprising, where I got some great swag and met some great people. I’m pleased to say the event was super fun, and it continues tomorrow as well. So if you get the chance, head to the Seattle Center Exhibition Hall and check out the awesomeness!

For my blogpost today, I bring you one of my favorite songs: “These Days” by Nico. I first heard this song in the movie The Royal Tenenbaums (2001), in a gorgeous scene involving two of the main characters in a moment of happiness. Even though the words of the song are kind of sad, the whole thing just makes me smile everytime I hear it.

The video that is paired with it is a stop-motion animated fan video that really puts a different perspective on the song. I think it’s adorable, and hopefully you do too!!

Enjoy “These Days” by Nico

Day 47: Her Morning Elegance by Oren Lavie

6 Jul

Hello there! If this is your first time on the site, be sure to check out the about page at the top for more info on my project! Also, sign the guestbook (also located in the top)!

Before I get to the actual content of this blog post, I’ve got a couple of things to point out!

First things first, I found out that WordPress.com made “Life As We Don’t Know It” the featured blog under the tag “optimism”! I appreciate all the support I’ve been getting for these past months and stuff. It’s been really neat seeing what people think of my project, and I’m glad you guys feel the same way! Check out the page here!

Second, I said in my blogpost yesterday that I’d mention more information about URBAN CRAFT UPRISING, so here it is

  • This saturday and sunday (July 10th & 11th) at the Seattle Center Exhibition Hall
  • Free admission!
  • Come look at neat projects from cool indie artists from around the nation (including Schmancy, Cake Spy, Figs & Ginger, Monkey Sock Monkey, Ugly Baby, go robot!, and many many more!)
  • Raffle, prizes, craft demos, and much more!

Come check it out! Also, I’ll be volunteering on the Saturday from 8:00am to 1:00pm! Come say hi to me!

You can check out the Urban Craft Uprising website by clicking on the picture right underneath this.

Finally, I present you with my daily dose of optimism. Now, if you like TV and you watch it a lot, I’m guessing you’ve probably seen all those “Kindle” commercials… the ones where the girls are doing things all while laying on sheets.

They’re stop motion animated, and they feature clothing and other laundry day props to tell the story of a girl with the “Kindle”.

This is not the first example of great, laundry-stop-motion… in fact, many speculate that the “Kindle” ads are directly inspired by a beautiful music video by Oren Lavie for a song called “Her Morning Elegance”

The video is accompanied by a gorgeous song, and it always puts a smile on my face. So enjoy “Her Morning Elegance” by Oren Lavie
