Day 268: A Softer World

9 Mar

For today’s post, I wanted to feature an online comic that takes me by surprise every time I visit it.

“A Softer World,” by Joey Comeau and Emily Horne, takes a look at the secret minds of people in daily situations with a hipster touch. With strange photographs and cut-out word documents of phrases, it’s a piece of art every week.

I really like it because it doesn’t shy away from the dark and intense topics, but it also reignites the silly moments in life. It’s creative, it’s strangely realistic, and it’s beautiful!

Below are a couple examples from the past few weeks. But you can check out more in the archives section if you’d like. Just click the pictures to see more, and hopefully you’ll see “a softer world” we live in.

Day 161: This comic…

22 Nov

…. made my day!

In honor of the cold weather and the impending feel of winter on our tails, I wanted to feature just this comic strip.

It’s from a website called “Double Fine” and it’s simply drawn by the creator Scott C. I looked at the site for the first time today, and so far I adore it.

So, stay warm and cozy and enjoy this comic!

Day 150: My Miserable Life Of Solitude With Cats #1

11 Nov

Hello there! If this is your first time on the site, be sure to check out the about page at the top for more info on my project! Also, sign the guestbook (also located in the top)!

A good friend of mine approached me about doing a comic for the site, and when I heard about the premise I was very excited!

He wrote up a little bit about the strip below, and I am honored to debut the first strip!

From the author:

“Hello everyone, my name is Warner Brown, and I am the proud owner of 2 very strange cats, this strip is dedicated to the weird, bizarre and sometimes psychotic things they do on a daily basis, the art will get better, the strips more entertaining, but heres a taste of My Miserable Life of Solitude with Cats. Enjoy!”

Super Effective!

12 Sep

Hey guys, Ridemus again. If this is your first time on the site, be sure to check out the about page at the top for more info on my project! Also, sign the guestbook (also located in the top)!

If you’re a pokemon fan and you know it clap your hands. If you just clapped your hands and everyone is now looking at you, look down ashamed.

Anyway, I stumbled across a hilarious webcomic known as Super Effective. It features jokes and humor that only people who have played the games would understand and find humorous. It covers a fictional character “Red” who starts his quest to be the ultimate pokemon master, while keeping most of the games features. Some of the comedy includes; Professor Oak asking the obvious question of “Are you a boy or a girl” or Professor Oak not knowing his own grandsons name and gives you the option to pick.

Seriously, check it out guys. Its pretty short now but hopefully it’ll be updated soon with some more support.

P.S. The rest of ‘Vgcats’ comic strips are pretty funny as well. Check them out.

Argyle Sweater!

Hello there! If this is your first time on the site, be sure to check out the about page at the top for more info on my project! Also, sign the guestbook (also located in the top)!

Hey readers, whats up? No, this isn’t your loyal optimism seeker Margasaur, but rather a new author named Ridemus. I’ll be adding my own doses of optimism to the blog along with Margasaur’s own posts.

Back in my senior year of high school, I would always read the most important section of the paper, the comics. My favorite being the Argyle Sweater. Created by Scott Hilburn, it’s a one paneled comic strip similar to ‘The Farside.’ (I even wrote one and sent it to the Scott. He liked the idea and drew a comic out of it.)

Random, witty, funny. What more could you ask for?

Check it out guys.
