Day 189: The Deep

20 Dec

Hey guys!

I saw this video earlier, and even though it’s only like 2 minutes long, it is incredibly gorgeous!

The film is called “The Deep” and it’s a stop-motion animated film about the various creatures of the deep. All the fish and landscape is made using metal, and it’s incredible!

Enjoy “The Deep”!

Day 169: and yet more Sufjan (but this will BLOW YOUR MIND)

30 Nov

Hey guys!

So, yeah I know Sufjan Week is technically over… and I promised myself I wouldn’t go spouting about him a ton more (mainly because I don’t think y’all care)… But this is awesome.

His newest video for the song “Too Much” (which I featured on day 155, and is my favorite song off of Age Of Adz) kind of blows my mind. It’s a little crazy on the eyes, but I really wish I was in this music video. Mainly because it looks like they are having way too much fun.

My personal favorite part is his dance to put on the shades. Seriously, what skill… I epic fail at that every time I try.

Anyways, without further ado, check out this psychedelic video for “Too Much”…. and try not to look directly at the lines… it’ll suck you in!

Day 166: The Most Wonderful Day Of The Year

27 Nov

Hello there and happy holidays!

Again, another short blog post (I apologize. Tomorrow, I promise pictures from the trip!)

Today we found ourselves smack in the middle of a holiday parade in downtown Bellevue, and it got me back in the spirit of the  holiday season.

So, in honor of the season to be jolly, I wanted to feature my favorite song from my favorite winter movie (the scary old 60s movie Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer).

The song is called “The Most Wonderful Day Of The Year,” and it’s all about the misfit toys that don’t have homes, and how excited they get to be visited by Santa.

Before I feature the song, I’d like to point out that yes this song is a christmas song, but I respect all holidays! Happy Hanukkah and Kwanzaa!

Day 160: Marcel The Shell With Shoes On

21 Nov

Hi everyone!

Today’s blog post is going to be short, due to a paper that is begging to be finished. So I picked something that needs little explaination!

“Marcel The Shell With Shoes On” is pretty much self-explanatory. I mean, it’s a shell. With shoes on. Who happens to be named Marcel. And yet, as the 3 minute video plays, I think my insides melt with happy joy.

It’s just too cute!

So enjoy “Marcel The Shell With Shoes On”! “One time I nibbled on a piece of cheese and my cholesterol went up to 900.”

Day 129: The Science of Sleep

27 Sep

Hey guys, if this is your first time on the site, be sure to check out the about page at the top for more info on my project! Also, sign the guestbook (also located in the top)!

I was thinking about a really good movie today called The Science Of Sleep (2006), starring the BEAUTIFUL Gael García Bernal and the LOVELY Charlotte Gainsbourg.

Right before the movie came out in theaters, I watched the preview religiously for two months. And by religiously, I mean that I was obsessed. But there was something intriguing about the movie that I couldn’t figure out.

The plot is pretty complex: a man named Stéphane (Gael García Bernal) confuses his dreams with reality constantly, and as his father dies, he comes to the realization that his life has to start. He moves back to Paris (where his mother lives) to work for a calendar company but doesn’t fit in with its staff. Really, he doesn’t fit in with anyone…. except for his strange but sweet neighbor Stéphanie, who likes to see the world in a different way.

The film is strange and switches back and forth between reality and dream-sequences. But because of its strangeness, it is quite appealing and sweet.

But the preview makes me warm on the insides:

I highly urge everyone to check out this movie. Seriously.

(as an added bonus, I included the full length Death Cab For Cutie song that is featured in this trailer… It’s called “Your Heart Is An Empty Room”

the other two songs are called “After Hours” by The Velvet Underground and “Fear Of Sleep” by The Strokes)

Day 108: Pink Bullets by the Shins

5 Sep

Hello there! If this is your first time on the site, be sure to check out the about page at the top for more info on my project! Also, sign the guestbook (also located in the top)!

I know I always talk about the Shins (for a little more insight into why, check out day 17), but tonight I want to feature my favorite song by them.

Whenever I’m in a bad mood, I always put on Chutes Too Narrow and listen as I stop myself from freaking out.

So tonight, with a lot of stress in my mind, I wanted to listen to my favorite Shins song and calm down.

While Pink Bullets is a bit of a downer sounding song, it’s gorgeous and always makes me think of the mountains at night time. Why? Don’t as me… it just feels right.

So enjoy “Pink Bullets” by the Shins.

Today I have another really sweet song for you called “Elevenses” by Neil Halstead. Some of you may have heard it before, which is not unusual: the song is prominently featured in the most recent “Above The Influence” commercial (with the two teenagers who hang out together).

I see this commercial at my work all the time, and the song is so cute that I just had to find out what it was!

So I hope you enjoy “Elevenses” by Neil Halstead!

P.S. this video was made under 99 dollars! hooray for using resources!
